# List your Instaloops community in the public directory

> Enable Discovery listing in Instaloops to appear in the public directory. Meet listing requirements, choose a category and language, and preview your ranking.

Discovery is the public directory where people can find and join Instaloops communities. Listing your community makes it discoverable through search and recommendations. You control whether to list it, which category and language it belongs to, and you can see a live ranking estimate.

<Note>
  Only community owners and admins with **Manage settings** permission can access this tab.

Your community must satisfy all requirements to become visible. Common requirements include:

* At least 10 members
* A community name with 3 or more characters
* A description with 50 or more characters
* A community logo uploaded
* Recent activity within the last 7 days

Items are checked automatically. A warning banner appears if any requirement is still pending.

  <Step>
    Under **Classification**, select a **Category** from the dropdown.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Choose a **Primary language**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

These filters help potential members find communities that match their interests.

## Ranking preview

The **Ranking preview** shows an estimated score out of 100. It also lists **Boosts** (factors that improve visibility) and **Penalties** (factors that reduce it). Communities with higher ranks surface earlier in search and recommendations.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How long does it take to appear in Discovery after meeting requirements?">
    Once all requirements are met, your community should appear in Discovery within a few minutes. If it does not show up after a short wait, refresh the page and verify that the toggle is still on.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I hide my community from Discovery later?">
    Yes. Turn the **List in Discovery** toggle off at any time. Your community will be removed from the directory immediately, but existing members keep their access.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does changing my category or language affect my ranking?">
    Changing classification does not directly raise or lower your score. It affects which filters match your community, so members searching that category or language are more likely to see it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What counts as recent activity for the requirement?">
    Recent activity generally means at least one post, comment, or reaction within the last 7 days. Encourage members to post regularly so this requirement stays satisfied.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Toggle turns off by itself">
    If the toggle switches off after you enable it, one or more listing requirements may have become unmet. Check the requirements checklist for any red circles and resolve them before trying again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Ranking preview shows zero">
    A zero score usually means your community is new or has not yet met all requirements. Focus on completing the checklist and building engagement. The score updates as your community grows.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Community not found in Discovery search">
    Make sure the toggle is on, all requirements are met, and you have waited a few minutes. If it still does not appear, try searching with the exact community name or checking the selected category filter.
