# Manage your Instaloops subscription and billing

> View your Instaloops plan, change between Free, Startup, and Pro, update payment methods, and cancel or reactivate your community subscription.

  Only community owners and admins with **Manage settings** permission can access this tab.

The Billing tab is where you manage your community's own subscription to Instaloops. You can view your current plan, switch plans, manage payment methods, and cancel or reactivate service.

## View your current plan

At the top of the Billing tab, you see:

* Your current plan name (Free, Startup, or Pro)
* Monthly cost
* Subscription status (Active, Canceling)
* Next billing date or access end date

## Change your plan

    Open **Settings** and go to the **Billing** tab.

    Toggle between **Monthly** and **Yearly** billing. Yearly plans show a **Save 2mo** badge.

    Click **Upgrade** or **Downgrade** on the plan you want.

## Manage payment methods

In the **Payment Methods** section, click **Add** to add a new card. Each saved card shows the brand, last four digits, and expiration date. The default card is marked with a badge. Click the trash icon to remove a card.

## Cancel your subscription

    In the Billing tab, scroll to the **Cancel Subscription** section.

    Click **Cancel**.

    Confirm in the dialog. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

## Reactivate a canceled subscription

If your subscription status shows **Canceling**, a **Reactivate Subscription** button appears. Click it to restore your plan before the billing period ends.

## Frequently asked questions

  <Accordion title="Will I lose data if I downgrade to Free?">
    No. Your community content and member list are preserved. However, premium features like custom branding and API access will be disabled until you upgrade again.

  <Accordion title="Can I switch from yearly to monthly mid-cycle?">
    Yes. Plan changes take effect immediately. Any prorated difference is handled automatically through your payment method on file.

  <Accordion title="What happens if my payment fails at renewal?">
    Your subscription enters a grace period. You will see a banner in the Billing tab prompting you to update your payment method. Fix the card details to avoid interruption.

  <Accordion title="Is there a refund policy for plan changes?">
    Downgrades and cancellations keep your access active through the current billing period. There are no partial refunds for unused time, but you can reactivate at any time before the period ends.

  <Accordion title="Can multiple admins manage billing?">
    Any admin with Manage settings permission can view and change the billing plan. Only the owner receives Stripe invoices by default, but any admin can add or remove payment methods.

## Troubleshooting

  <Accordion title="Upgrade button shows an error">
    Make sure you have a valid payment method on file. Click **Add** in the Payment Methods section and enter a card. Then return to the plan grid and click **Upgrade** again.

  <Accordion title="Reactivate button is missing">
    The reactivate option only appears while your status is **Canceling**. If the billing period has already ended, the button disappears and you must select a plan again to resubscribe.

  <Accordion title="Payment method shows expired but I updated it">
    Remove the old card by clicking the trash icon, then add the updated card fresh. Stripe may cache the old expiration date if you only edited in place.

  <Accordion title="Billing tab shows Access Restricted">
    Only community owners and admins with Manage settings permission can view billing. If you see this message, ask the owner to grant you the correct role or handle the change for you.
