# Set your notification preferences in Instaloops

> Control push alerts, email notifications, digest frequency, quiet hours, and direct message alerts across your Instaloops communities. Preferences save automatically.

Your notification preferences control how Instaloops reaches you across push, email, and digest summaries. Changes save automatically, so you can tune alerts without extra steps.

## Mute or restore all notifications

At the top of the tab, a master toggle lets you silence every push and email alert at once.

## Push notifications

Push alerts are sent to your devices in real time. You can enable or disable each type individually:

* **Likes**: when someone likes your post or comment
* **Comments**: replies to your posts or threads you follow
* **Mentions**: when someone @mentions you
* **New followers**: when someone starts following your profile
* **Direct messages**: new DMs and reactions in conversations
* **Community updates**: announcements, events, and admin posts

## Email notifications

Email alerts are sent to the address on your account. The types mirror the push list: Likes, Comments, Mentions, New followers, Direct messages, and Community updates.

## Email digest

A digest rolls up what you missed and sends it on a schedule.

    Under **Email digest**, choose **Daily**, **Weekly**, or **Never**.

* **Daily**: sent once per day
* **Weekly**: sent Monday mornings
* **Never**: digests are turned off

## Quiet hours

Quiet hours pause push notifications overnight.

<Tip>
  Quiet hours only affect push alerts. Email and digests still arrive based on their own settings.

## Direct messages

You can control DM alerts separately from other notifications:

* **DM push notifications**: ping your devices when a new DM arrives
* **DM email notifications**: send an email when you receive a DM

## Who can message you

Choose who is allowed to start a conversation with you:

* **Everyone**: any community member can message you
* **People you follow**: only accounts you follow can start a conversation
* **No one**: direct messages are turned off entirely

## Frequently asked questions

  <Accordion title="Do my notification settings apply to all communities?">
    Yes. Notification preferences are global and apply across every Instaloops community you belong to. You cannot set different preferences per community at this time.

  <Accordion title="Why did a toggle revert after I changed it?">
    If your network connection drops while saving, the toggle may revert. Check your connection and try again. If the problem persists, refresh the page and retry.

  <Accordion title="Will I still get emails if I mute all notifications?">
    Yes. The mute-all toggle only disables push and email alerts for the listed notification types. Email digests are controlled separately under **Email digest**.

  <Accordion title="Can I set quiet hours for a custom time range?">
    Not at this time. Quiet hours use a fixed overnight window. For more control, mute push notifications manually or use your device's Do Not Disturb mode.

  <Accordion title="Who can message me if I choose People you follow?">
    Only accounts you actively follow can start a new conversation. Existing conversations are not affected, and you can still reply to any thread you are already in.

## Troubleshooting

  <Accordion title="Changes are not saving">
    Check your internet connection first. If you are online but toggles keep reverting, refresh the page to reload the latest preferences, then try again. Persistent issues may indicate a server sync delay.

  <Accordion title="Push notifications not arriving">
    Confirm push notifications are enabled in your device settings for Instaloops. On mobile, check your OS notification permissions. On desktop, make sure your browser allows notifications from the site.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Digest emails are going to spam">
    Add the Instaloops sender address to your contacts or safe-senders list. Check your spam or promotions folder, and mark the message as not spam to improve future delivery.

  <Accordion title="DM access setting keeps resetting">
    The **Who can message you** option is saved locally on your current device. If you switch browsers or clear your cache, the setting resets to **Everyone**. Server-side persistence is coming soon.
